REBRANDING DAKWAH WORKSHOP : PART 1

11:48 PM
Assalamu'alaikum wbt! Alhamdulillah sambutan amat menggalakkan even first year medical students tengah menghadapi end-block-exam syndrome. At least by joining this programme dapat sedikit sebanyak brainwash and perbetulkan nawaitu masing-masing untuk study. Betul tak, kawan-kawan? Perhaps this post may benefit others as well.

Lets me introduce the respective speakers first. Here, we got two sessions, the Saturday session was conducted by Mr Amin Idris and the Sunday session was conducted by Mr Shah Kirit bin Kakulal Govindji.

The Saturday session was more emphasized on how to attract people in establishing Amar Ma'ruf Nahi Munkar with different means and methods. The Sunday session was more on what make the effort of dakwah meet the blunt end.

Maksudnya di sini, jelaskan dahulu kekeliruan persepsi tersebut, barulah dititipkan dengan mutiara-mutiara Islami as the way of life. Walaupun bukan kita yang punya kuasa memberi hidayah mengetuk pintu aqidah mereka, at least kita dapat mengurangkan bilangan penentang-penentang terbuka Islam. Bukankah itu molek? Bak kata beliau lagi, "ISLAM IS COOL!"

To be continued...

TENTERAMKAN HATIMU

8:42 AM
Ibnu Qayyim Rahimahullah berkata

WHAT HEAL YOU?

4:28 PM

Since becoming pre-medical students, most of them always fall sick. Why?
Dah kita yang akan rawat orang nanti, suppose kita experience penyakit tu dulu then baru kita tahu. Right?
Just simple short answer. Actually this hectic chaotic life forces us to do so, neglecting ourselves for the sake of our future patients (hopefully not because of money, ok!) Too friendly with all those Kumar and Clerk Clinical book and so forth, some of us sacrifice meal and time to sleep (but I think I'm not. hehe...) I also experience this kind of things. Everything seems to become necrosis and embolized somewhere in my brain, occluding my thought and eventually 'die' (dehydrate from motivation). Why? As far as I concern, I always have enough sleep and food, never starving!

If we try to sum up in every aspect, it is actually rooted from stress, and stress is rooted from... our mind! Don't be too histrionic that we are not loved by ALLAH or ALLAH is doing unfairly onto us. Quoted from Dr. Umeed's psychology lecture on 20/11/2009:
Stress is depend on the way of thinking. It is a problem itself. Some of our problems can be solved by doing nothing.
In one of the descriptions of personality, it is divided into three factors:

  • NEUROTISM (unstable, tense, anxious ---------- stable, relax)
  • EXTRAVERSION ( sociable, impulsive, extrovert ---------- unsocial, cautious, introvert)
  • PSYCHOTISISM (ecocentric, aggressive, impersonal, cold ---------- aware of others, warm, non-aggressive)
Overall, we have to be moderate in all these three aspects (as previous post). That's a pure Islamic teaching. By ALLAH's will, we will have the best state of mind which can think rationally. Back to our main topic, sickness. Reflect the picture above. What can you find? Shrink the pupil of your iris and focus. What can you see?

Now that's the key! WHEN I'M ILL IT IS HE (ALLAH) WHO CURES ME. Thus, don't be afraid to fall sick. ALLAH is here and always be with us. I still remember when I got abdominal infection. I can't stand and just lying on the floor that night with severe abdominal cramp. On that moment, I feel I have no one except ALLAH. That's another key, we will remember ALLAH when we fall sick and dying. It means, ALLAH really miss our prayer and tears, so HE remind us through this kind of warning, sickness! HE doesn't want us to deviate further. Need to be shared here, narrated by Bukhari, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon Him) said:
O' servants of ALLAH, seek treatment for your ailments for surely HE who created the disease has also given a cure for it. Those who are knowledgeable will be able to discover this cure.
That's ALLAH promise. Every disease has the 'prescriptions' except death. Wallahu a'lam bissowab.

SALAM 'EIDUL ADHA

EGOTISM VS HUMILITY

1:47 PM
EGOTISM is a thougt in which you believe that you are more important than anything revoleves around you. In contrast, HUMILITY means a state of being humble but sometimes it might lead to low self-esteem. In psychology, the state of developing EGOTISM begins to be apparent since in the age of 4 (that's a normal development actually, don't worry) but it will be under control through the progress of one's emotion when becoming adult. Any how, sometimes, people are not be able to well-controlled the EGOTISM throughout one's lifetime. How about being in the state of NARCISSISM? Is it ok? NARCISSISM is a state of self-loved, meaning that you love yourself more than others. It should not be like that. Life is to about our own. We live for others actually, that the true concept in Islam (cakap senang tapi susah nak buat kan? I know la coz I have once experience it!)
Hmmm... Learning psychology is pretty interesting, not because of we will become parents, but we know how actually we develop and how nice Allah creates everything with their own complement elements and compensation state. Learning science doesn't mean that we won't have chance to know our Lord and our religion, instead we will become autoimpressive because its real and vivid when we learn about human. We are human, and of course we experience it through our naked eyes!
Dear fellow friends... Islam teaches us to be in a state of modesty throughout of our life, neither being too EGO nor too HUMBLE. How sweet the Islamic teaching right? Wallahu a'lam.

NEW BLOCK AS MEDICAL STUDENT

11:35 AM
Assalamua'alaikum... Nothing much to be shared here. Just want to qoute phrases inspired by Doctor Sa'ad, the anatomist and also the experienced surgeon who has joined our Problem-Based Learning session (PBL) last week with our histology lecturer, Doctor Emad al-Matloub. He was such a passionate and sincere in indulging in this medical field!
You have to have the eyes like an eagle, the heart like a lion
and the hands like a mother. Then you will become the true doctor.
Medical field is not a sort of enjoyment, but it is a sacrifice. So, Naurah, do you really wish to become a doctor? (soalan cepu mas betol!) O Allah, we are in thirst, thirst to rejuvenate our faith. Guide us in the path of You till we meet the end of breath. Another catchy qoute that I would like to bring here in the book entitle 'Madrasah Jiwa Perindu Syurga' written by Mas Udik Abdullah:
Bantulah dia, sayangilah dia. Dia pendamba cinta-Mu...

ASMA'UL HUSNA

6:57 PM

Guess what and where it is? It is a tree-like replica located in front of Masjid Negeri Pahang Darul Makmur. I even noticed this stainless-steel tree until the two days before 'Eidul Fitr. I'm not actually estatic with the structure but the thing that really stretches my iris in astonishment is the engraved 99 names of our Omnipotent Lord, Allah!

I still bear in my mind, the speech delivered by one of my usrah members to be pondered by each one of us, regarding Allah's 99 names and 20 attributes:

Just count you age of being a Muslim. Some of us are 18, 19, 20 or even 23 years old. It's a very long time. Half of our hayah on earth. Now, just reflect ourselves in just a simple way. If we are true Muslim, how can we admit that we love our Creator instead of knowing Him well? Are we really know Him? Do we really know and understand all His names and attributes? Bukannya susah, sehari satu nama, dari kecli sampailah sekarang, tak possible untuk kita hafaz. But then how many of us really know and understand all those things? Tepuk dada tanya iman.

It really 'terkena batang hidung sendiri'. Even I'n from SMKA but i am really ignorant. O Allah, You really loves me and know me well even You do not need me at all to depend on, but I am the one who really need You. Forgive me, O Allah.

BOOK: FRIEND OR FOE?

12:47 AM
How do you define the word "BOOK"?
B     bored
weary and impatient because one is unoccupied or lacks interest in something
O     old hat
something tediously familiar and outdated
O     omadhaun
a foolish person
K     kid around
behave in a silly way

Or in this way:
B     brilliant
excellent
O     old stager
a very experienced or long-serving person
O     outmatch
be superior to
K     klondike
a source of valuable material

Let us digest the wisdom of Waqi' advising his beloved student, Imam Syafi'e in having a proper manner of seeking knowledge, the light of life:

شكَوْتُ إِلَى وَقِعٍ سُوْءَ حِفْظى
فَأَرْشَـدَنِي إلى تَرْكِ المَعاصِي
وَأَخْـبَرَني بِـأَن العِلمَ نُـورٌ
ونُـورُ اللهِ لا يُهدَي للعَاصى

which means:

I (Imam Syafi'e) told Waqi' regarding my weak memorization. He then asked me to leave the ma'siah off.  He told me that the 'ilm (knowledge) is light, and thus Allah won't endows the light for those who commit the ma'siah

It depents on the way we think, aim and organize. Still remember the principle of Saidina 'Ali?

Hope that it is enough for us, exclusively for me to rethink what I have done during my 20 years of life.

BEYOND THE LENS OF 'EIDUL FITR 1430

11:24 PM
Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar. Lailaha Ilallahu wallahu Akbar, Allahu Akbaru wa lillahil Hamd.

Takbir raya during this 'Eidul Fitr was quite different. It was recited by a new imam (macam biasalah, yang muda gak jadi rebutan. Hee...) That morning was misty but really calm. As we all know, 1st Syawal is a symbol of our glory, fighting with lust, hatred, greed and so forth all along our journey in the month of Ramadhan, in searching the bless from Allah.

Allah has stated in the Holy Qur'an in chapter 2, al-Baqarah, verse 183 which means:

O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, then you may (learn) self-restraint.

Ramadhan is such a privilege for all Muslim in order to purify the soul and feed it with precise dose of medication, which is faith, or Iman. Not only experiencing thirst and hunger, but fasting is a mean to practise abiding the syari'ah and sunnah thoroughly and accordingly. It is just 1/12 of a year for Muslims to do so.
Tarawih, tadarus, congregational five-time-daily-prayer, talaqqi, usrah, ziarah, iftar jama'ie, qiamullail... All have been trained to be a habit in daily life. Praise be to Allah, I have been sent to IIUM to pursue my study there. In mahallah of IIUM, all those activities were actively organized and joint duling every Ramadhan. Even there were a slight group of IIUM members who didn't joint them, but most of them showed a warmth welcome to Ramadhan. It was Ramadhan which gathered us together even our daily life as medical student was so hectic and chaotic. All these bounties were gained from the Rahmah of Allah.

In fitrah, we are born in purity, like a white sheet, unfolded to the real world. It is one's parents' responsibilities and senses to educate and nature them, either in a right mould or not, whether he or she becomes a true Muslim or not. Let me qoute some prhases in the book of '20 Most Common Questions Abut Islam' written by Dr. Zakir Abdul-Karim Naik, in chapter 19, subdivided into 5 subtopic, but here I would like to focus on 'Don't Judge The Car by Its Driver':
If you want to judge how good is the latest model of the 'Mecedes' car and a person who does not know how to drive sits at the steering wheel bangs up the car, who will you blame? The car or the driver? But naturally the driver. To analyze how good the car is, a person should not look at the driver but see the abilities and features of the car. How fast it is, what is its average fuel consumption, what are the safety measures, etc. Even if I agree for the sake of argument that the Muslims are bad, we can't judge Islam by its followe. If you want to judge it according to its authentic sources, i.e. the Qur'an and the Sahih Hadith.

Islam is rich with all the art of beauty. But unfortunately the followers nowadays have tarnished the shine. Keep in mind the promise of Allah and seek His blessing through our prayer. Here, I would like to share a pinch of knowledge, regarding the verses recited by the sister of Umar, which eventually has melted the fierce and egotism of Umar. The verses are from chapter Ta Ha, from 1 until 8:
1. Ta Ha.

2. We have not sent down the Qur'an to you to be (an occasion) for your
distress,

3. But only as an admonition to those who fear (Allah).

4. A revelation from Him Who created the earth and the heavens on high.

5. (Allah) Most Gracious is firmly established on the throne (of authority).

6. To Him belongs what is in the heavens and earth, and all between them, and
all beneath the soil.

7. If you pronounce the word aloud, (it is no matter): for verily He knows
what is secret and what is yet more hidden.

8. Allah! there is no god but He! To Him belong the Most Beautiful
Names.

MY FIRST FAILURE

9:58 AM
Life is like a sky. Sometime it shines with the sun and moon, sometime it seems sorrow with nimbostratus and sometime it rains. I wonder what is the significance of all this. It is certain that Allah creates everything with particular purposes. But now I realize this is the hint given by Him to me as a guide to face the real life. He really loves me. He leads me with the sweetness of His creation.

May I speak in Malay? (haha... I break the rule!) Alkisahnya begini... Apa signifikasinya antara langit dengan hidup naurah? Frankly I'm not pleased to analogize life with the wheel, sometime up and sometime down. It's just like meredhai apa yang jadi tanpa usaha and biar dihentam berkali-kali. But the sky moulds different meaning, very different! The unpredictable colour and season makes it very extensive. Allah knows best.

Apa pulak berkias-kias antara 'jauh' and 'jatuh' ni? Jauh dengan Allah tak semestinya dengan meninggalkan solat and puasa sahaja. macam-macam boleh under category ini. Let me bring you to this point of view. 'Wah... hebatnya presentation awak!' apa reaksi kita? Jatuh bergoleklah! Jatuh tidak semestinya gagal dalam minitest or apa-apalah. Macam-macam boleh ditafsirkan sebagai gagal. Gagal tundukkan nafsu, gagal hindari riak, gagal menyenangkan hati orang, gagal itu lebih dahsyat impaknya, tapi naurah ni buta, asyik melihat kegagalan atas kertas (semoga Allah mengampuni dosaku)

Let me reveal who I am. Yes, I fail in my first minitest at Kuantan. This is my first failure in my whole life! At the beginning I feel that life is not fair because life forces me to involve in medical field but when I rethink, I cannot blame life, it is same with blaming Allah (hello... siapa awak nak blame Tuhan?!)

This first failure is the most precious one. Doakan naurah bangun semula!

Lau la murobbi, ma 'araftu rabbi

A STORY OF AN APPLE

12:18 PM
Have you ever heard about the true story of the parents of SHEIKH AHMAD IBN HAMBAL? It's about a 'MAGIC APPLE', an apple which had changed a life of a guy! Remember? Let's take a look!

"I accidently eat your apple. How can I pay back your apple?"
"Marry my daughter. She is blind, dumb and deaf, would you marry her?"
"Yes, I will."

"...to test your sincerity..."
"Wow! I never thought that an APPLE can give me this."

WHICH-ONE-COME-FIRST RECIPE

1:04 PM

It takes a crane to build a crane
It takes two floors to make a story
It takes an egg to make a hen
It takes a hen to make an egg
There is no end to what I'm saying

Jason Mraz: Life Is Wonderful
Between egg and hen, which one come first? ONLY ALLAH KNOWS BEST. This is not what I'm trying to discuss here but as usual, just want to share my hobby here, cook and eat!

It's quite difficult for me to share my recipe here because I always cook without using the accurate amount of ingredient. I just like to throw whatever I like in that 'kuali'. So, just use this recipe as your guideline (Biasalah, tukang masak tak bertauliah)
Presenting... the making of sambal telur... Haha...

INGREDIENTS

eggs
dried chilli peppers
onions
garlics
ginger
cinnamon
star anise
chilli powder
salt and sugar

DIRECTION

1. Boil the eggs in salted water. Then fry them in shallow oil to make them slightly crusty.
2. Mince onions, garlics, ginger and dried chilli peppers with water in food processor. Heat the oil and fry all those ingredients till it turns dark red.
3. Add in cinnamon and star anise with sugar and salt. Put the boiled eggs altogether and stir. Now, it's ready to be served!

It is pretty nice if we serve it with nasi lemak kukus. Yumie...

10 MIRACLES OF EGG

Some say that egg is the cause of overweight. Is it true? Let me bring you the proved benefits of this cute egg.

GREAT FOR THE EYE An egg a day may prevent macular degeneration. It is the number one cause of blindness in those over the age of 55.

LOWER RISK OF DEVELOPING CATARACTS It is because of the lutein and zeaxanthin in eggs

SOURCE OF PROTEIN One egg contains 6 grams of high-quality protein and all 9 essential amino acids

PREVENTING HEART DISEASE Regular consumption of eggs helps to prevent blood clotting, stroke and heart attack.

SOURCE OF CHOLINE It is an important nutrient in  assisting regulation of brain, nervous system and cardiovascular system.

SOURCE OF RIGHT FAT One egg contains just 5 grams of fat and only 1.5 grams of that is saturated fat.

IMPROVE LIPID PROFILE Regular consumption of two eggs per day does not afect a person's lipid profile and may, in fact improve it.

SOURCE OF VITAMIN Eggs are one of the only foods that contains natural vitamin D.

AVOID BREAST CANCER Woman who consumed at least 6 eggs per week lowered their risk of breast cancer by 44%.

HEALTHY HAIR AND NAILS It is because of their high sulphur content and wide array of vitamins and minerals. Many people find their hair growing faster after adding eggs to their diet, especially if they were previously deficient in foods containing sulphur or B12.

Hope that you can now enjoy eating egg without any worry!

WANNA CHALLENGE ME?

10:09 PM

 ...They look 'yumie'...

I got something to share here. Even it's just merely verbal exercise but as long as it can unwind ourselves, why not we have a try. It is known as TONGUE TWISTER. Actually, Allah has designed our tongue with stretchable and flexible muscle cells so that it can be used properly in our daily life. Though it is pretty small, but its vitality is undeniable.

Let me illustrate you in just a simple way. Pronounce 'I love you' without using the tongue. Can you do so? How can we communicate and express our feeling without tongue? Is our life will be as meaningful as now? Of course 90% not! Next word, try to pronounce 'Basmallah' correctly, again without tongue (Our mouth will become full with air, maybe...) In fact, tongue is essential in digestive system where it will mix our chewed food with our saliva and forms bolus (solid food) through its muscle cells' antagonistic movement. PRAISE BE TO ALLAH THE SUPREME, every single creation brings meaning and function in our lives.

Come on, lets' prove the miracle of our tongue by this test. Are you ready for this challenge? Please let me know if you can challenge the speed of the Landlord to deserve something special from her (Kenape... x pecaye?) Deal with this challenge? Check it out!
